The label is often the first point of contact between a product and its potential consumer, making it a critical element in the brand’s identity and success, especially in the competitive spirits market. At TECHNOLOGIA JSC, we recognize that packaging goes beyond simple identification — it is an integral part of the brand experience. A well-designed label creates a sensory journey that not only tells the brand’s story but also captures the consumer’s attention at a glance. This is why we’ve transformed label into the Art of Packaging, seamlessly blending creativity and functionality to ensure every product stands out.
In this exclusive interview, Marco Savio, CEO of SAVIO s.r.l., discusses the company’s rich history. He also highlights the crucial role premium label plays in elevating their renowned rum brands.
SAVIO is a family business founded in 1958 by Paolino Savio to deal with coffee roasting and the production of spirits.
From the very beginning Paolino has been inspired by the search for high-quality products and for this he personally developed strong relationships with producers and partners in Central and South America acquiring specific skills in the liquor sector. After a few years SAVIO began to produce traditional liqueurs from Italy and Aosta Valley, the region where the company is based.
After 30 years of activity in Italy and abroad, Paolino was then joined in the expansion of the company by his son Marco, who mainly dealt with the enlargement of the product range and the development of new markets.
Today the company is still led by the Savio family and, while operating in more than 40 countries with continuous innovations in the range of products and services offered to customers, it continues to respect the values that inspired the founding of the business.
Thanks to the experience acquired through its brands, SAVIO is now able not only to produce private labels of spirits and liqueurs for its customers, but also to support them throughout the entire process (e.g., distillate procurement, bottling, packaging, etc.) to meet the specific needs of each market.
Marco’s vision, when he started co-operation with Master Distillers in order to undertake rum production with exclusive recipes, was to make the high-quality rum accessible to a large public.
Labels in a specific way and packaging in general play a strategic role in attracting consumer attention, especially when the consumer does not know and has not tasted the brand yet. Therefore, its attractiveness thanks to the design, the material used, the tactility makes the difference.

In general, artists (unfortunately) realize graphics independently from knowing the feasibility of the various printing techniques. Here it is where the suppliers make the difference. They can see further since they know the potentiality of their techniques and the best possible result they can obtain according to the briefing received from the client or from the artist/graphic or even without this briefing they can advise and enhance the result imagined by the artist.
Claessens UK gave us Technologia contacts, after your visit in Claessens’ offices. Therefore, our collaboration began after we met at BCB 2021…. If I am not mistaken it took us a few months and then we made a first trial with La Cruz 1992 and 1993 neck metal collars. Since this experience had been successful, we then decided to print Contadora labels and further ahead also Ron Malteco labels and The Demon’s Share Special edition.
The quality of your sample labels convinced us. For sure the fact that we needed to launch our Contadora brand with the redesigned labels and that the metal labels could enhance colors and shapes made it for good. And the result was a great one for sure!

I would say they all look good. We have used different materials, only metal, metal and paper… and the result is always stunning!
It is always a pleasure to submit our new projects and to get your assistance if anything unforeseen happens… delays, transport issues or whatsoever, you are always very propositive and helpful…
Technologia can definitely be counted among our trusted partners.
We would like to thank Marco Savio for sharing his valuable insights and experience with us. It’s been a real pleasure working with SAVIO S.r.l. over the years.
